4 Easy Desserts From The South That Your Family Will Love

Today, we're going to be making some fabulous desserts from the South. I'm going to share some of my family's favorite desserts with you all. It's those types of desserts that are so delicious but remarkably easy.

Kool-Aid pie

1. No-bake Kool-Aid pie

I know it sounds strange, but this pie is one of the best dessert recipes you'll ever make. You can use any flavor of Kool-Aid, but if you use orange, it will taste like an orange creamsicle.

Ingredients needed:

  • 16 ounces whipped topping (Cool Whip or store brand)
  • one packet of Kool-Aid, your favorite flavor. I chose orange.
  • 7 ounces sweetened condensed milk (1/2 can)
  • Graham cracker crust

Directions:

Place the whipped topping in a bowl, saving some for topping the pie.

Add the packet of Kool-Aid.

Add seven ounces of the sweetened condensed milk.

Mix all this with a whisk.

Scoop the filling into the pie crust.

Top this with the leftover whipped cream.

Mountain Dew cake

2. Mountain Dew cake

This dessert is a baked dessert. It's very budget-friendly as well. Mountain Dew cake is a staple at every potluck in the South.

Ingredients:

  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/3 cup oil
  • 12 ounces Mountain Dew

Ingredients for icing drizzle:

  • 2/3 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Mountain Dew

Directions:

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

To a mixing bowl, add the yellow cake mix, and three eggs.

Add one-third cup of vegetable oil.

Next, add in 12 ounces of Mountain Dew.

Mix well. It'll stop fizzing eventually.

Grease a Bundt pan, then pour your cake batter into it.

Bake for about 25 to 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

Let it cool completely, then remove it from the pan.

For the icing:

Mix two-thirds a cup of powdered sugar with a teaspoon of Mountain Dew.

Drizzle the icing evenly on top of the cake.

Million dollar pie

3. Million Dollar Pie

My mom used to make this all the time when I was growing up. I haven't had it in a few years, and I'm excited to share this because it is so good.

  • 2 Graham Cracker Pie Crusts
  • 16 ounces cool whip
  • 7 ounces sweetened condensed milk
  • 15 ounces drained mandarin oranges
  • 20 ounces drained crushed pineapple
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

Directions:

In a mixing bowl, add seven ounces of sweetened condensed milk.

Next, fold in the entire container of Cool Whip.

Add the drained mandarin oranges and crushed pineapple.

Put about a teaspoon of lemon juice in the mixture.

Mix it well.

Divide the filling and place into the pie crusts.

We like to pile the pie with filling, so we use only one crust, but there is enough filling for two.

Let the pies chill in the refrigerator for about two hours before cutting.

This is the finished pie, so simple and so tasty.

Apple cinnamon bake

4. Apple Cinnamon bake

You're going to need two ingredients. Apple pie filling and one can of cinnamon rolls with icing.

Directions:

Preheat the oven to 400.

Save the icing for later.

Cut up the cinnamon rolls into chunks.

Place them in a buttered casserole dish.

Pour the apple pie filling evenly over the cinnamon roll chunks.

Mix well so you can get a piece of apple and a piece of cinnamon roll in every bite.

Bake this at 400 degrees for about 15-20 minutes or until the cinnamon rolls are cooked all the way through.

Remove the apple cinnamon bake from the oven and drizzle the icing evenly over the top.
